Musculoskeletal Ultrasound effective in diagnosing shoulder injuries including rotator cuff tears Vs. MRI
August 23, 2015
A recent study published demonstrated that oftentimes MRI’ sis over ordered by physicians. Furthermore, A combined ultrasound and x-ray evaluation strategy could accurately characterize shoulder pathologies for most cases. Our patients and athletes like receiving Ultrasound to quickly diagnose rotator cuff or bicep tears and move forward with a treatment plan based on the extent of injury determined. Ultrasound is a bedside interactive “hands on” technology that allows the Dr to dynamically move the shoulder around to pinpoint pain. Sometimes when a labral tear is suspected an MRI may compliment the ultrasound and provide further information to guide treatment and prognosis.
