SoftWave
SoftWave: what it is and what it treats
This noninvasive, nonsurgical treatment uses unfocused electrohydraulic shock waves to improve blood flow, reduce inflammation, and activate the body’s reparative process on a cellular level. Otherwise known as ESWT—or extracorporeal shockwave therapy—it’s an attractive, drug-free option for individuals hoping to prevent surgery or long-term medication use.
SoftWave is commonly administered to address:
- Plantar fasciitis
- Lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow)
- Acute and chronic injuries, such as high ankle sprains and stress fractures
- Chronic tendinopathies (e.g., rotator cuff injuries, Achilles tendinitis, patellar tendinopathy)
- Osteoarthritis-related pain or discomfort (especially in the knee, hip, or shoulder)
- Muscle strains and tears (e.g., hamstring, quadriceps, calf)
- Ligament injuries (such as sprains or partial tears)
- Bursitis and other inflammatory conditions (shoulder, hip, knee, etc.)
- Sports and overuse Injuries
- Golfer’s elbow (medial epicondylitis)
- IT band syndrome (iliotibial band syndrome)
- Post-surgical recovery (for enhanced healing and reduced scar tissue)
- Sciatica
- Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis)
- Chronic inflammation
How SoftWave works
As compared to traditional focused shock waves or radial waves, SoftWave applies broad-focused true shockwaves to penetrate a wider and deeper area of damage and stimulate healing–without causing microtrauma.
With a demonstrated ability to efficiently and effectively address the underlying cause(s) of pain and inflammation, many patients experience symptom relief and improved mobility with minimal downtime, and after just a session or two. Appointments generally last five to 15 minutes and are recommended once a week, at three-to-five-week intervals.
Is SoftWave covered by insurance?
