Orthohealing Center Platelet Rich Plasma Video reaches 200,000 views on YouTube:

OHC video from June 2009 eclipses 200,000 views! The video demonstrates the process of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections for the elbow, and shows the entire procedure from start to finish, including the PRP preparation and live ultrasound images showing the precise location of the needle.   Having only been posted 5 years ago, this video demo mirrors the progression of PRP & Orthobiologics. With such advancements in technology and medicine since then, the field of Orthobiologics has expanded at an exponential rate, and new areas of research are constantly emerging.

A 3rd generation of Orthobiologics has evolved in the form of Bone Marrow Concentrate (BMC), and recently the Orthohealing Center published a review article highlighting the use of BMC for treatment of cartilage disease. While PRP research is continuing to develop with larger studies starting to emerge, and extensive research suggesting its regenerative potential.  In one of the largest studies to date, the Orthohealing Center, along with other (TOBI) The Orthobiologic Institute faculty members, published a double blind controlled trial examining the effects of PRP on 230 patients suffering from chronic tennis elbow. The study revealed a calculated success rate of 84% in the PRP treated patients.

As the field of Orthobiologics continues to evolve, it is imperative for research efforts to match its growth.  Dr Sampson believes that “With advancements in medicine comes the responsibility to conduct clinical trials to better understand how these therapies might help & in what conditions”. This is why the the Orthohealing Center strives to remain at the forefront of research efforts in the field of PRP and Orthobiologics, and continues to collaborate with experts around the world through networks such as The Orthobiologic Institute (TOBI).
