Los Angeles Lakers All-Star Center Andrew Bynum having his Best Year with a little help from Synvisc for his Knee Pain

October 30, 2012

Los Angeles Lakers All-Star Center Andrew Bynum visited his knee specialist during NBA All-Star weekend to receive a Synvisc injection into his right knee. Synvisc, one of several viscosupplements available, is an FDA-approved natural substance that serves as a lubricant when injected into the knee and mimics natural joint fluid. It has been proven safe and effective for osteoarthritis knee pain and can provide up to six months of relief.

The 24-year-old center previously had surgery to repair torn cartilage in his knee in the summer of 2010. Now, with the aid of Synvisc and a brace that he wears to cover his knee during games, Bynum is having a breakout year and was voted into the All-Star Game for the first time in his seven-year career and started for the Western Conference. He is averaging career highs in points, rebounds, and minutes per game.

While Synvisc has helped professional athletes stay at the top of their games, it is also available for patients who suffer knee pain with everyday activities such as walking, running, climbing stairs, etc. The Orthohealing Center is proud to offer viscosupplements such as Synvisc as one of the many ways to help patients suffering from knee osteoarthritis lead pain-free lives while avoiding surgery!
