New study on anti-inflammatory wearable garment for knee osteoarthritis

A study performed in the United Kingdom tested the effects of using a germanium-embedded knee sleeve on patients with knee osteoarthritis. Knee osteoarthritis (OA) prevalence is high in individuals over 45 and is expected to increase with age and the obesity epidemic. Symptoms can include pain, stiffness of the joint, and inflammation. This study found that individuals with early arthritis had a significant reduction in pain from a pain level of 8 reduced to a 3 on a ten-point scale when wearing a germanium-embedde d knee sleeve in comparison to the control group. These results illustrate the potential of nonsurgical strategies in managing knee OA. To learn more, click here.
