A recent study from Aarhus University Hospital in Denmark aimed to study the effects of combined BMAC and PRP treatments in treating cartilage lesions in the knee. Upon comparing subjective clinical outcome scores and imaging 2 years after the procedure, the results showed significantly decreased pain levels along with improved function. However, the combined treatment was found to create repair tissue that was inferior to the native cartilage. There is more research that needs to be done in cartilage regeneration techniques in order to optimize both clinical outcomes and tissue regeneration. To find out more, click here.
