Combined Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC) and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) treatments yield promising results in knee cartilage repair

A recent study from Aarhus University Hospital in Denmark aimed to study the effects of combined BMAC and PRP treatments in treating cartilage lesions in the knee. Upon comparing subjective clinical outcome scores and imaging 2 years after the procedure, the results showed significantly decreased pain levels along with improved function. However, the combined treatment was found to create repair tissue that was inferior to the native cartilage.
