Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Injections Found to Significantly Reduce Plantar Fasciitis Pain: New Study, American Journal of Sports Medicine

A double-blind study conducted through multiple clinics in the Netherlands aimed to compare the effectiveness of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) vs Corticosteroid injections in treating chronic plantar fasciitis. Corticosteroid injections often provide temporary relief, but results suggest that they do not facilitate healing of tendon, muscle, bone, and cartilage injuries. When comparing the two groups at the 12 month follow-up, 84.4% of the patients in the PRP group had significantly decreased pain levels and improved function compared to 55.6% of the patients in the corticosteroid group. These results help support the efficacy of PRP in alleviating pain with chronic injuries like plantar fasciitis. To find out more, click here.
