Achilles Tendons don’t always completely tear, sometimes they partially tear. Typically, this occurs from a strong contraction of the calf muscle overstressing the tendon. While the symptoms are less obvious compared to a complete tear, many of the symptoms are similar. Walking becomes more difficult. The leg can swell around the tendon. The calf can feel weakened leading to balance problems. These are typically managed with non-surgical remedies like physical therapy, bracing, and injections.
