Game Ready Icing Compression System

gameready Game Ready Icing Compression SystemRICE Meets NASA

RICE stands for the standard management of injuries with Rest, Ice, Elevation, and Compression. The Game Ready device uses NASA developed spacesuit technology to deliver alternating compression and intense cold therapy (35-50 deg F). Cold therapy has proven effective for trauma injuries by reducing pain, improving range of motion, and facilitating recovery. Also ice therapy reduces metabolic activity that allows oxygen to enter into the damaged tissue. By reducing the white blood cell (WBC) involvement in the inflammation phase, pain relief is achieved.

Inflammation is a natural and vital response to initiate healing after injury. Most new injuries quickly follow with redness, pain & swelling. This is the bodies attempt to repair itself. However, the inflammation phase can be excessive and prolonged, which delays and disrupts healing. The Game Ready system modifies inflammation with simultaneous compression and cryotherapy. Inflammation naturally causes swelling known as edema. This fluid while initially generated to promote healing from the inflammation phase; can ultimately promote tissue overcrowding which decreases oxygen availability. The accumulation of protein rich edema can promote scarring with oxygen deprived tissue. The intermittent compression helps optimize the lymphatic system to excrete tissue waste.

We utilize the Game Ready system after various injection procedures, TraumeelPRPtrigger point injections, etc. After the cold therapy is used to distribute fluid and manage pain, we often follow with class IV laser for intensified effects of promoting tissue recovery.
